This Prunus mahaleb seedling is a important rootstock for sweet and sour cherry. Also well-known under the name “Saint Lucie Cherry”. Mainly used in soils and climates where the Prunus avium are not well adapted.
The mahaleb is very well drought resistant. Can not be used in wet and heavy soils.
