Malus domestica MM111 is a vigorous semi-dwarfing rootstock. It produces a free-standing tree and does not need support. It is more precocious than a traditional seedling and is fairly productive when the trees are mature.
The MM111 is very appropriate for use on poor dry sandy soils, and also on heavy wet soils where the MM.106 would fail. The MM.111 is the most drought tolerant clonal produced apple rootstock.
Due to his tolerance of both heavy and light soils and the drought resistance this is also a good rootstock for home gardens as well.
